July 2024
Last week, the Society for the Study of Reproduction hosted their 57th annual meeting in Dublin, Ireland, titled “Evolution of Reproductive Sciences – Where Should We Go?” This week-long conference hosted speakers and visitors from countries across the globe, including a number of faculty and trainees from the Cornell Reproductive Sciences Center.
We would like to recognize and congratulate the following individuals for their participation in the 2024 SSR Annual Meeting:

- Hannah Sylvester, a graduate student in Dr. Selvaraj’s lab, presented her talk, “Indefinitely Preserving Mammalian Biodiversity Using Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells: Progress and Perspectives” on July 17
- Dr. Vimal Selvaraj, who presented his talk, “Bovine Beginnings: From Trophoblast Stem Cells to Placental Development” on July 18
- Dr. Mandi de Mestre, who presented her talk, “Dispelling Misconceptions Regarding Pregnancy Pathophysiology Using Insights from the Horse” on July 18
- Leah Simon, a graduate student in Dr. Cohen’s lab, presented her talk, “Investigating Genes Regulated by BRDT In Vitro for Non-Hormonal Male Contraception” on July 19
- Stephanie Tanis, a graduate student in Dr. Cohen’s lab, presented her talk, “Disruption of Reproductive Function in Vivo and Ex Vivo Using a Novel CRISPR/Cas14d Mouse Model” on July 19
- Rhasaan Bovell, a predoctoral fellow in Dr. Place’s and Dr. Comizzoli’s labs, presented his research, “Pre-Stimulation Level of Serum Anti-Müllerian Hormone is Associated with Subsequent Quality of Ovarian Response to eCH/pLH in the Domestic Cat (Felis catus)” during a poster session on July 19
In addition to this fantastic list of presenters, a number of CoRe members were recognized with awards:
- Leah Simon was awarded the SSR-Male Contraceptive Initiative Poster Award for her poster, which shares the same title as her July 19 talk
