Aileen Gariepy, MD, MPH, MHS, is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist and Complex Family Planning subspecialist and the Director of Complex Family Planning for the Weill Cornell Medicine sphere. Her clinical care focuses on first and second trimester abortion and miscarriage care, and contraception, especially for patients with co-morbidities.

Her research focuses on developing and testing innovative, multi-faceted strategies for decreasing unintended pregnancy in marginalized populations with specific focus on permanent contraception, the effect of unintended pregnancy on women’s lives, cost and contraceptive provision, and digital health interventions to improve reproductive health. Her research has been funded by the NIH, PCORI, SFP, Power to Decide (formerly the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy) Innovation Next Award, internal grants and private foundations. She was the recipient of the 2019 Society of Family Planning Outstanding Researcher award and has received national awards for teaching and mentorship. In 2014, her research was cited by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in the Supreme Court case Burwell v. Hobby Lobby (No. 13-354.
